African Sojourn started when Sandy Levine's sister, artist Diana Madaras of Tucson, had a chance meeting with the owner of a tour company that specializes in trips to Africa. Madaras had always dreamed of going on a photographic safari. Terry von Guilleaume, owner of Destination Southern Africa said he would send Madaras on a free safari, if she would agree to donate the proceeds of the original paintings she created as a result of the trip to charity. Thus began a heartwarming "pay-it-forward" story, with one generous act leading to another. When Levine heard about the fundraiser she was inspired to become involved, and traveled to South Africa to create a moving video about the charities that will benefit from the African Sojourn art show.
