Sandy Levine

ABOUT US

For more than 25 years, Sandy Levine has utilized her talents as a television producer to effect positive change in the community.  From saving the lives of homeless animals, to helping to raise tens of thousands of dollars for charity, Levine has devoted her professional life to social journalism.  In 1996, she founded her own television and video production company.
In an effort to inspire others facing difficult challenges, today Levine also presents keynote speeches and seminars on "Surviving and Thriving After a Crisis," sharing the story of her husband's near death from a rare neurological illness, and his eventual remarkable recovery.

Levine is an accomplished producer, writer, reporter, host, editor and camera operator.  Her career began "pulling cable" at a television station in New Jersey in 1985.  She worked for NJN Public Television, New Jersey's PBS affiliate, from 1988 through 2011.  She was the long-time host and producer of NJN's Homeless Tails, a television program that helps homeless dogs and cats in New Jersey find loving caregivers and educates viewers about important humane issues.  Currently she hosts The Best Years for Ocean County College's Ocean TV-20 and produces videos for Rutgers University.
In addition to working in television news for 12 years as a producer and reporter, Levine has produced half-hour documentaries on issues ranging from breast cancer to animal welfare.  For one production she donned scuba gear and dove into a steel cage to videotape the awesome Great White Shark off South Australia.
In promoting a charitable art show organized by her sister, artist Diana Madaras of Tucson, Arizona, Levine traveled to South Africa to profile the beneficiaries.  The video she produced spurred other organizations to get involved; the art show raised $80,000 for charity.
Levine has been nominated 10 times for regional Emmy Awards.  She has been featured in numerous publications - regional and national - for her work on Homeless Tails, and she appeared on a segment of  Amazing Tails on the nationwide cable channel, Animal Planet.  In 2007 Levine was presented an award by the Monmouth County SPCA for her work on behalf of animal welfare.  In 2004 she was named the Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey's Hero to Animals, and also was inducted into the Toms River Schools Hall of Fame in recognition of her professional achievements and contributions to the community.  In 2002 The Humane Society of the United States honored Levine.
Levine is a 1982 graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
